CNC Victoria was established in 2013 by Dr. Raju Yerra. After being based in the area for over 10 years, Dr. Yerra saw an acute need for a comprehensive neurological service in these regions of Melbourne.
The Neurologists at CNC Victoria specialise in general neurology, epilepsy, stroke, headache, neurophysiology, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, spinal disorders, Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders. Comprehensive Neurological Care Victoria lives up to its name and provides well rounded care for all types of neurological disorders.
The doctors at Comprehensive Neurological Care(CNC) Victoria are happy to see patients with work cover and TAC, and urgent/semi-urgent referrals are welcome.
The specialists pride themselves on patient centred care and work in close association with General Practitioners and other specialists to provide patients with the highest quality comprehensive care.
All specialists have public hospital attachments in the region; these include the Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Western General Hospital and Sunshine Hospital. Our specialists also have admitting rights to all the major private hospitals in the area, including John Fawkner Private Hospital, Brunswick Private Hospital and Melbourne Private Hospital. This allows us to provide seamless outpatient and inpatient services.
CNC Victoria is a private practice and fees are set according to the Australian Medical Association(AMA) guidelines. However, considering the socio-economic status of the Northwest regions, the fees are set lower than recommended by AMA. Full payment of fees must be made on the day of consultation. Personal cheque, Card and Cash payments are all accepted. TAC and work cover patients must bring their claim details.
OUR SERVICES:-
NEUROPHYSIOLOGY IN MELBOURNE:-
Clinical Neurophysiology diagnostic Tests; EEG (Electroencephalography), NCS (Nerve Conduction Studies) and EMG (Electromyography) are offered to assess the central and peripheral nervous system functions by measuring electrical activity in the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles.
EEG (ELECTROENCEPHALOGRAPHY):
The electroencephalogram (EEG) is a medical test used to measure the electrical activity of the brain, via electrodes applied to your scalp. The EEG is also commonly called a brain wave test. It’s a safe painless procedure that uses a machine to translate the electrical activity of the brain into a series of wavy lines. EEG can help diagnose a number of conditions, most commonly epilepsy.
NCS AND EMG (NERVE CONDUCTION STUDY AND ELECTROMYOGRAPHY):
WHAT IS A NERVE CONDUCTION STUDY?
A Nerve Conduction Study (NCS) is an electrical study of your nerves. It involves having small electrical impulses applied to the skin over the nerves. These pulses will cause the muscles to contract. Nerve conduction studies measure how well and how fast the nerves can send electrical signals.
WHAT IS ELECTROMYOGRAPHY?
Electromyography, or EMG, is a diagnostic procedure which measures the electrical activity of muscles at rest and during contraction. This involves putting a small, needle electrode into the muscles to assess their health and the nerve cells that control them. The needle electrode is approximately the same size as an acupuncture needle. These tests help in the diagnosis of conditions and diseases involving nerves and muscles. They will help your doctor to decide on the cause of your symptoms and plan the best treatment for you.
